In this game, we hope to explore the fundamentals of the world JKR set up for us while also taking liberties that may take us into AU territory. We want to strip characters of any plot armor they might have and play this game in an action vs. consquence enviornment. The Order and the Death Eaters can still put on their dancing shoes and cut the rug, but we'd prefer they dance to their own disco boogie rather than go to a club where the DJ doesn't take requests, you dig?

Hard though it may be considering most of us have spent actual years roleplaying Harry Potter, we ask that you try to shelve the popular fandom headcanons and start fresh (or, fairly, as fresh as we can), especially since a lot of these characters, though they have been played time and time again in beloved games, have little information actually available to them.

To start, there will be an initial character limit of TWO. Although we are not going to be placing any caps on factions or affiliations, we encourage you to apply characters who can help push different aspects of plot.

Holds last for a week. No extentions will be granted, and once your hold has expired you must wait 24 hours before re-holding and applying. Although we do not see this being an issue given that our game is a GPSL, we still think this is a fair rule to implement.

Please keep your played-by's age appropriate in reflection to your character! We know that some people have baby faces, and we'll take that into consideration, but please be mindful.

We're not planning on being restrictive in terms of played-bys. Use models, use singers, use actors and actresses. Our only request is that the person you choose has a wide range of facial expressions! After saying all of this, please also understand that we reserve the right to reject a played-by if we feel that they won't jive or aren't otherwise appropriate.

On a similar note, we also ask that you refrain from using any Animated Icons. Many of our users are mobile-bound and gif icons aren't particularly mobile friendly.

Anything that contributes to the development of your character will count as activity, but it a narrative, comments, journal entry, logs, mood board, playlist, etc. There is no minimum limit to what we require from you as long as you are an engaged and participating member.

Although this is going to be a fairly low requirement GPSL, we do want to have a system in place where players can reflect on their participation honestly. We hope that by putting up a place to track your activity at the beginning of the month that you can dump activity as it happens so that you can see where or if any areas need improving.

At the end of every month we will be posting an interest check where players can both check in to avoid being swept and also to talk about areas of activity they would like to improve on, budding plot ideas, or otherwise to generally use it as a place to communicate and talk with fellow players.

Meta-gaming is when your character is in the know about something they could not possibly know in game. This can include 'lucky hunches' and 'reaches,' or if your character is exceptionally good at putting two and two together. If Character A and Character B are secretly hooking up, your character cannot see Character A smile at Character B and automatically know that they're involved. If you think that your character could feasibly reach for something, ask the players involved! Communication never hurts.

Although this is a war game and death is to be expected, we ask that you please be mindful when approaching certain topics as to keep griefwanking and torture porn in check. War and the tragedies that come with it isn't a competition.

We understand that sometimes there are issues and certainly it's impossible to like everyone, but if you are having issues with another player, try speaking with them frankly about it. Nine times out of ten it's either miscommunication or is a super simple fix! People are reasonable when you give them the chance. That being said, if you do need us to intervene or mediate, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email at EMAIL HERE IDK We can't help if we aren't aware that something is wrong.

IC/OOC separation is perhaps the most important part of the rules, period. Just because a character might say something rude, vulgar, sexist, or whatever else does not mean that the player is that way. As people, we often don't like to admit fault, but for the sake of everyone, ask yourself frankly and honestly: Is this character being OOC or am I taking this personally/OOCly? If you genuinely feel there is a problem, even if it includes a mod, please come to us! This is a very important topic and we want to make sure everything and everyone feels comfortable.

When one character is being 'out of character,' it makes it impossible for others to stay 'in character.' Please keep in mind that characters tend to judge others by their actions and not their intentions. Your character is not a mind-reader. Your character should not automatically know the motivations behind what everyone does. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with others. For example, if your character is a dick or a bitch or a whatever else to another character, they probably won't lay down and take it. This doesn't mean that the player hates you or is upset with you. Please be realistic about expectations when playing prickly characters, even if they aren't prickly to everyone.
